Japan scraps duties on Malaysian products

Malaysia's government announced that Japan scrapped duties on 88 percent of products traded with Malaysia effective from Sunday.

The trade ministry said duties on a further four percent of traded products would be removed within the next five to 10 years while duties on the remaining products would be reduced over 10 years.

Japan is one of Malaysia's most important trading partners, accounting for 10.9 percent of Malaysia's total international trade in 2007.
